Lecture and discussion with Prof. Timo Goeschl, PhD (Center for Environmental Economics)

“Each and every one of us can make changes in the way we live our lives and become part of the solution to climate change,” says Al Gore. But will each and every German seize the opportunity to personally do something for climate change when given the chance? How little should it cost the average citizen to make his/her contribution? - In a field study, roughly 2,500 German citizens were given the opportunity to reduce their annual carbon dioxide emissions by 10 per cent at costs between 2 and 100 Euros. The reaction among the citizens offered fascinating insights into the factors that determine voluntary commitment to climate change.
